Pete is the founder and the chairman of the Yateley Silverbacks. He has won numerous titles and awards during his 19 years in the Wessex league playing for 3 different clubs - some as a player and some as a player/coach. Pete is a 5 times Silverbacks Players' Player of the Year and the 2015 MVP. He is the England U16 Team Manager/Pathway coordinator and has led the national team as Head of delegation at 3 European Championships. The bronze medal won in Macedonia in 2014 is the highlight of his basketball career.
Pete has also coached school teams to 2 National titles, a London Borough Championship and has just set up and coaches the Silverbacks U12s. These days on court Pete is a steady point guard who's drives to the basket and scoring are becoming rarer and rarer, with too many minutes on his rebuilt knees, but he still claims to be the best passer in the Wessex league! #
Favourite players: MJ, Glen Rice, Larry Bird, Lebron and Matthew Daines Inspiration: Catherine Daines
Matthew had been a 'baller since he was born. He first played in the bath and could catch even before he could walk! At the age of 3 in the nursery he spent his free time shooting hoops and the teachers nicknamed him 'Ball Matthew'. He was a founder member of Diddy Dunkers and had graduated to Thursday night bball club by Year 1. He played for the school u11 team as a 7 year old and scored his 1st ever point with a free throw at the IAPS National Championships which Yateley Manor won. He is a scoring guard who also has good court vision and loves stealing the ball on defence.
Matthew will be eligible for the Silverbacks u12s for another 3 years after this season and is already frequently the teams top scorer.
Favourite Players - Anthony Davis, Steph Curry and Pete Daines
Alex started at Yateley Manor basketball club in year 2 and has loved it ever since! He is playing point guard and is inspired by Coach Daines and Lebron James!
As captain of the under 12s he is looking forward to the rest of the season and being able to play next season as well.
