BLACKHAWKS STRONG SECOND HALF SEES OFF U16 SILVERBACKS

U16 Yateley Silverbacks  23 Woking Blackhawks 43

Friday night saw the new U16 Silverbacks team take on the Woking Blackhawks at Wellington in the Bracknell CVL. Wilf Brooks was the only surviving player from last year's squad - so the team were starting from scratch. Silverbacks were the first to score and were leading at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter remained quite even, but the Blackhawks just edged ahead.

In the second half, the Blackhawks grew in confidence and hustled hard to force turn overs and run them back for lay ups. The 'Backs worked really hard and made it back time and again, never letting their heads drop - but struggled to make their own shots. Ben was injured in a foul, and sat the last quarter out on the bench. Nearly everyone made it onto the score sheet, and although the final score favoured the Blackhawks - this was a positive start for the new team.
